Greetings – Daniel R. Collins here. I’m a full-time Lecturer (with CCE) in the Kingsborough Department of Mathematics and Computer Science; I work in both math and computing. Currently I focus more on the computing side, teaching Programming I and II in C++, as well as Discrete Structures (Mathematics). Previously I taught Elements of Statistics and remedial Elementary Algebra for several years. I have an M.A. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Maine, as well as B.A.’s in Philosophy and Mathematics (both with Highest Distinction) from the same institution. Before entering academia as a profession, I worked as a Senior Software Engineer in the field of video games.

I lead our department’s efforts in Program Assessment for our Mathematics A.S. degree, as well as training and certification for online teaching. You’re invited to visit our department’s site for online teaching resources in math and computing. See the “Teaching” tab here for complete presentation slideshows for some of the lecture courses I teach. I developed the Automatic Algebra website for timed practice quizzes on basic math skills.
